There's Still Time to Do Wellness Pledges

Did you know over 8,000 benefit participants did not file a healthcare claim in 2013? That means 8,000 of our employees/dependents were not proactive with their health in 2013! So while there is still a few good months before winter hits us what better way to celebrate than to Pledge to Be Well.

If you are planning on enrolling in the 2015 medical plan with North Shore-LIJ, and have not had the chance to review or act on the 2015 Wellness Pledge Program in exchange for your paycheck credits in 2015, the time to act is NOW -  the deadline for the pledge program has been extended through the end of the year.

Deadline Dates
  • October 31 is the deadline to remember if you want those paychecks starting with the first pay cycle in 2015.
  • Pledge compliance in November/December will still get you paycheck credits in 2015 but they will be delayed by 4 to 8 weeks. These credits will not be retroactive, so do your best to complete all four pledges by October 31.
Who is Eligible?
Full-time and eligible part-time non-union employees and Lenox Hill nurses who are enrolling or re-enrolling in the 2015 medical plan through North Shore-LIJ.

Here's the quickest way to complete your pledges:

One:  Submit Your Mandatory Online Health Assessment
Complete the online Health Assessment (HA) on myuhc.com (which is a mandatory pledge). Visit HealthPort for detailed instructions.

Two: Watch the Wellness Video on iLearn
Take 2 to 3 minutes to watch this informative video about your preventive care on North Shore-LIJ's Learning Management System's iLearn (refer to this blog post for more on the video)If the Wellness Video Pledge is not loaded on your module and you know you have not viewed it, contact hrit@nshs.edu for help.

Three: Schedule a Dental Exam
If you are up to date on your dental hygiene you should be scheduling your second dental exam/cleaning for the calendar year. If so, note you have complied as of the first, since the dates of eligibility are January 1 through December 31. If you have not had any dental exam in 2014 and have no dentist, search Cigna Providers.

Four: Schedule An Eye Exam
Schedule an exam even if you have no problems with your vision. Vision issues can arise as we age. Search Davis Vision for a location near you. Keep in mind you need to be currently enrolled in the Vision Plan for your visit to be recorded.

What Else?
Another valuable Pledge is the HA for your Covered Spouse - just keep in mind your spouse can only participate if he or she is currently enrolled in the health system's medical plan with United. Visit myuhc.com

Visit HealthPort or tool around this Blog, to learn more about the other pledge choices available to you.
Here's to a happy healthy you - all year long!

Response to August 1 at 6:22 pm: You will be able to see your Wellness Summary on Employee Self Service next week. Take note: our healthcare carriers, United Healthcare, Cigna and Davis Vision will be uploading the visits and screenings on a monthly basis, so your July visit may not appear on the summary next week. Keep checking on this blog for more information about the new Wellness Summary and how to comply with the Pledge Program. Thank you for your interest.

I had my annual physical and my mammogram in november of 2013. I can not have either one done by the end of october because it wont be covered by insurance if it is less than one year. Does this mean that i cant receive the credits starting in january?

Response to September 10 at 10:44 am - Be sure you have completed the Health Assessment on myuhc.com - if you do not complete that pledge you will not receive paycheck credits in 2015. Once you have completed/taken action on the other three pledges the providers will submit your claim to the carriers United Healthcare, Cigna Dental, and Davis Vision. The carriers then feed that information (which is date-of-service not your health information) over to the Wellness Summary in Employee Self Service. This transfer of compliance takes 4-8 weeks to complete. As long as you complete your actions: visit the doctor, get your screening, watch the video, complete you health assessment prior to October 31 you will see your paycheck credits begin with your first pay cycle in 2015. If you wait until November/December you will receive paycheck credits in 2015 but they will be delayed 4-8 weeks and will not be retroactive. Hope this information helps!

In response to September 19 at 11:19 am: United Healthcare will cover your annual physical now and in October. The coverage goes by the year. In another words - they will cover a physical on December 31, 2014, then again on January 1, 2015. As for you mammography - keep that pledge action in November and you will see that $10 in late January or early February. If you would like to choose another pledge - review your options. Thank you for your interest.

If you have taken the flu vaccination does it count as a pledge. Some of the employees have been told that it does count.

Northwell Health People Communications said...

In response to September 22 at 11:45 am - Flu Prevention is not part of the 2015 Wellness Pledge Paycheck Credit Program. This means employees no longer receive a financial incentive in exchange for the vaccination. Flu prevention is mandatory for every employee. Employees who decline the vaccine, will be asked to sign a declination form may be required to wear a mask.

I had a dental cleaning in august does that count for my healthcare assessment

Northwell Health People Communications said...

In response to Oct 6 at 8:59 pm - A Dental Cleaning will count as one of your optional pledge but it is not the same as the Health Assessment. The completed online Health Assessment is required in order for you to receive ANY paycheck credits in 2015. To complete the Health Assessment, visit myuhc.com. Register and login - if this is your first time on myuhc.com - create a user name and password - once in - click on the Health Assessment blue bar on the far right of the page. Hit the button that says Take the Health Assessment. Answer a few basic questions about your health and submit. The HA takes about 15 minutes.
Once your HA is complete your dental exam will earn you $260 in paycheck credits in 2015.
Thank you for your interest in the program.

I went to my Dentist in May. My next visit isn't needed till December. My wellness pledge for a dental visit has not been entered as of today. I called my dentist to send me proof that I saw him, but they are not sure exactly what I need to provide as proof. Please give me some guidance. The dental visit being entered would mean I qualify for the maximum paycheck credits and I don't want to lose out! Please Help.

Northwell Health People Communications said...

In response to Oct 23 at 10:54 am - Yes your visit to the dentist in May will count as one of your pledges. It should have been uploaded to your Wellness Summary by now. Delays are usually due to paperwork jams within the provider's office. The office should be able to provide you with some form of proof of your visit. Once you have your date of service you can fax to the HR Service Center at 516-224-3161. Thank you for your interest and commitment.

Hello,

I have completed the health assessment and watched the video.

I have also arranged appointments for both vision and dental exams but the only available dates were in November? Is this OK? Thank you.
