Compare Plans in Advance

With most organization's Open Enrollment occurring in November,  North Shore-LIJ recognizes that you may be considering enrolling in your spouse's plan in 2015 and may need to make an educated decision - now - and not wait until December 3 (which is when North Shore-LIJ's Open Enrollment begins). That is why we have made the necessary information available to non-union employees and Lenox Hill Hospital/MEETH Registered Nurses on HealthPort>HR>Benefits.

For the Non-Union Population
Benefit Groups
  • Benefit Group 1A generally refers to executives and physicians
  • Benefit Group 1 generally refers to directors and AVPs
  • Benefit Group 2 generally refers to managers and clinical mid-level providers
  • Benefit Group 3 generally refers to staff-level employees
Location Reference
Another thing to keep in mind as you read through your Open Enrollment materials, the term "non-365" refers to employees who do not work in a facility that operates 24/7, 365 days a year. Non-365 employees receive the same healthcare benefits as an employee working in a hospital (referred to as a 365 Employee) with slightly different plans for disability, life insurance, and Paid Time Off. There in no "Non-365" status for physicians and executives.

I noticed for 2015 benefits, the enrollment materials state either full time or part time elections.
In the past full time meant a FTE 1.0 as well as .9 and .8 RN - whereas Part time was for .7, .6 and .5 RN staff.
Can you clarify what the terms mean?

In response to comment posted on 11/14 at 11:10 am: The following criteria is for non-union employees, union rules vary depending on how eligibility is defined in union contracts.
For non-union: Full Time Eligibility is 31 hours. Part-Time Eligibility is 50% of the full time job equivalent. For example, for those most common positions working 37.5 hours part-time eligibility is 15.5 hours to 31 hours - for those working 40 hours, part-time eligibility is 20 to 31 hours. Hope that clarifies full- and part-time hours.

Can you check your slides please? The rates on page 9, benefits group 2 (365) are the same as those on page 11, benefits groups 1,2,3 (non-365). Same for dentail rate, pages 13 and 15. Are they supposed to be the same?

In response to November 18 at 2:25 - Yes, the rates are correct. Benefit Group 2 rates for 365 and non 365 are the same for medical and dental. Thanks for your interest.

Can you please clarify what EE+child means? Does that include only one child or all dependent children? If you have more than one child, but are not enrolling your spouse, is that considered EE+child or EE+family? Thank you.

In response to November 30 at 7:41 pm - There are 4 coverage level options: Single, Employee + Spouse, Employee + Child or Children, and Family. Your level of coverage should be Employee + Child or Children. Under this option you can enroll all your children up until the age of 26, that includes natural, adopted or step.
